Sourcing Notes: Sourced from Jamaica, Aura Cacia's allspice berry oil is typically harvested from August through January in order to avoid the hurricane season. A field team works to reap or break 2/3 of the tree for each harvest. This method ensures a profitable harvest and insures optimum growth for the next season. The breaking/reaping of the leaves, and separating the berries and branches from the leaves is an incredibly labor intensive task. Once separated from the leaves and branches, the berries are steam distilled to produce allspice essential oil.
Processing Notes: Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the unripe crushed fruit.
